A gastro pub, which was forced to close temporarily by Covid shortly after opening, has been declared the best place for a roast in Yorkshire.
The White Horse, in Church Fenton, near Tadcaster, has been rated the best in the county in recent Rate the Top 10 Good Roasts.
The pub and restaurant ranked fifth in the UK in the table of outstanding places for a traditional Sunday lunch.

The White Horse serves roast beef, lamb, pork and chicken or a combo of the first three meats between £14.95 and £17.50 with Yorkshire puddings and all vegetables.
There are also vegetarian and children’s options.
Owner Stephen Hawkins said: “As a new business which opened shortly before Covid-19 hit in March 2020, we are absolutely delighted to be named Best In Yorkshire and fifth in the UK by Rate Good Roasts.”
Of the restaurant, ‘YorksBill’ of Tadcaster said: ‘The food the four of us had was first class. The lamb I had was delicious. It had been a few months since we had been in and the food has always been good.”
Other Yorkshire pubs and restaurants to feature in the top 10 were Shears Yard, The Calls, Leeds (9th) and the Chopping Block, York (10th).
