There are seven regions in Wales with Covid infection rates of over 600 cases per 100,000 people.
This data was first released on Friday, February 18. They provide the figures for areas with an average population of 7,000, called medium super exit areas (MSOA). In practice this means that there are statistics for areas like Canton in Cardiff, Morriston in Swansea and Porth in Rhondda.

Data shows there are 10 places in Wales with over 550 cases per 100,000 people and one where the figure is over 1,000.
The areas with the most cases at the moment are as follows for the past seven rolling days to February 13:
- North Aberystwyth, Ceredigion – 1,494.10
- South Aberystwyth, Ceredigion – 881.5
- North Cathays, Cardiff – 859
- Caerau East, Cardiff – 698.1
- Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth, Powys – 693.9
- Cathays South & Bute Park, Cardiff – 679
- Bangor City, Gwynedd – 646.2
- Beulah, Troed-an-aur and Llandysul, Ceredigion – 568.3
- Llandovery, Cil-y-cwm and Cynwyl Gaeo, Carmarthenshire – 558
- Ammanford and Betws, Carmarthenshire – 555.2

It is important to keep in mind that this data is very volatile because it covers smaller areas. When an area has a very small population, even one positive case can dramatically increase the number of cases per 100,000, so you need to be careful about drawing too many conclusions directly from the information.
The three areas with the highest infection rates in each local authority
This is based on weekly infection rates for the previous seven days per 100,000 people. Data is based on the seven-day moving average between February 7 and February 13.
