The celebration of the arts will take place at Midland College

The City of Midland will launch a new public inquiry tool to better understand local priorities and concerns regarding a wide range of city services and local quality of life. The tool will allow the city to more holistically understand local neighborhood issues and improve their responsiveness to community priorities. The survey asks city residents to rate their experience with different aspects of living in Midland, including affordable housing, education, transportation and public safety.

The survey will be launched at the end of July and will collect hundreds of responses from residents. The survey will appear to residents through the use of digital advertisements in various places such as news websites, social media platforms, blogs and apps. Based on the responses, the survey will measure residents’ satisfaction with local services and the quality of life in the city, while identifying key concerns that residents want the city to address. Fun in the sun with a cop

The Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry will host “Fun in the Sun with a Cop” on Friday.

The Midland Police and Fire Department, Midland County Sheriff’s Office, and Public Safety Department Troopers will be on hand at the event, handing out more than 500 popsicles.

The event will also have a 16-foot waterslide and a bouncy house. Kids will be able to check out police cars, SWAT cars and emergency vehicles, according to the Midland Police Department Facebook.

The free event will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry, 1401 Orchard Lane.
