Police cordon in place around elderly lady’s home after neighbors heard ‘gunshots’ | United Kingdom | New

A huge police cordon is in place outside the home of an elderly lady after residents reported hearing ‘gunshots’. Cleveland police are currently on the scene. The incident happened at Wilton Way, with a police van currently located outside the property.

Residents of the scene reported “gunshots” in the early hours of Sunday morning. A resident also recounted how the property involved in the shootings belongs to an elderly lady.

The window of the property was smashed.

Residents say the ‘shooting’ happened around 1am on Sunday, reports TeessideLive.

A neighbor said: “It’s disgusting that people are using guns in this county – not to mention shooting at an old woman’s house. I hope the person responsible will be caught soon. We have never a lot of trouble here and lately that’s all you hear about.”

The large window of the house in Wilton Way was completely smashed. There are large pointed windows visible from the road.

The white blinds remain drawn despite the damaged window.

A crack and a small hole are also visible in the upstairs window. The blinds are also drawn.

The front door and the small upstairs window appear to have suffered no damage.

Cleveland police have been approached for comment.

Another neighbor said the owner of the house “came out safe and sound”. They added: “I’m glad the 80-year-old got out of the house safely, but it must have been awful for her to be in bed and hear gunfire on your house. Her son came for her.”

Locals have reported a “drive by shooting”, although this is yet to be confirmed.
