No. 15 HookC beats Creighton for first place

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 15 UConn Baseball Team (37-8, 11-1 BIG EAST) takes on Creighton (25-12, 10-2 BIG EAST) in a three-game series at Elliot Ballpark starting Friday, May 6 at 3:50 p.m. All three games can be viewed on FloSports with Saturday’s game also on CW20 in Connecticut.

Weather has already been a factor this weekend with the series opener moved to 3:05 p.m. It is possible that Saturday’s contest will be pushed back a few hours from the 1:05 p.m. start. That will be determined after Friday’s series opener.

Despite the weather, the weekend pits the top two teams in the BIG EAST against each other with the Huskies winning the 2021 BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles and Creighton hoisting the 2019 Regular Season and Tournament crowns.

The Huskies are off to a six-game winning streak this weekend after posting a 5-0 week last week that featured a three-game road sweep at Butler.

Creighton is coming off a series win against Xavier last weekend in a back-and-forth series between the Bluejays and Musketeers.

The Bluejays are making their first-ever trip to Elliot Ballpark with the program facing only once in program history. The Huskies beat Creighton 2-0 in an intense BIG EAST winner’s game that featured 13 strikeouts from Ben Casparius in seven innings and a home run of Kyler Fedko.

Due to the UConn graduation Saturday and Sunday, please plan to arrive early as there will be heavy traffic on the UConn campus.
