‘Kabir Suman Live in Dhaka’ will now take place at the Institute of Engineering

Prominent singer Kabir Suman was due to perform in Dhaka after almost 13 years on October 15, 18 and 21, with tickets for the three days already sold out. The concert was originally announced to take place in the main auditorium of the National Museum of Bangladesh.

However, yesterday Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had informed the Daily Star that they had not given permission from their side to use the venue for the event as it is a facility key point (KPI).

“The National Museum of Bangladesh is a key facility, and that is why we have not granted permission for the event,” DMP Commissioner MD Shafiqul Islam told the Daily Star.

MD Shafiqul Islam had also informed the Daily Star yesterday that the organizers of the event had not requested permission to use another venue.

Now, it has been revealed by the organizers that the event will take place at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). The news was also confirmed by the DMP’s additional commissioner, AKM Hafiz Akter, who told several media outlets that the clearance would be granted.

The program will mark the 30th anniversary of the release of Suman’s popular solo album, “Tomake Chai”. The famous singer will perform his modern Bengali and Bangla Khayal songs during this three-day music event.
