India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana slips to 9th in women’s ODI rankings for batting

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana slipped to ninth in the updated ODI Women’s Batting Rankings on Tuesday.

The left-hander was in eighth position, but following the series against Sri Lanka, she fell one place. Mandhana scored 4, 94* and 6 in three ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, the Indian Deepti Sharma has consolidated his seventh position in the latest all-rounder ranking. Deepti took 6 wickets, including a three-iron, in three ODIs. The southpaw also played a crucial 22 step out in the opener.

India swept the ODI series 3-0 against Sri Lanka earlier in July. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur moved up a spot to take 13th place after her superb 75.

Shafali Verma (jumped three places to 33rd) and Pooja Vastrakar (up eight places to 53rd) also saw their rankings improve. Indian spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad jumped to take ninth place. Gayakwad came back with the numbers of 3/36 in the final game of the ODI series to move up two places.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday. For the first time, cricket will feature in the showpiece event. India will face Australia, Pakistan and Barbados in their Group A matches on July 29, July 31 and August 3 respectively.
