New Delhi [India]Oct. 16 (ANI): The India-Africa Defense Dialogue will be held on Oct. 18 on the sidelines of DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will host defense ministers from African nations at the India-Africa Defense Dialogue (IADD) on the sidelines of the 12th DefExpo in Gujarat on Tuesday, according to a Defense Ministry press release.
The general theme of the dialogue is “India-Africa: Adopting a strategy of synergy and strengthening cooperation in defense and security”.

India and Africa share close and historical ties. India’s approach to Africa is guided by the Kampala Principles set out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. India’s engagement is grounded in African priorities as described by Africans themselves.
The first-ever India-Africa Defense Ministers’ Conclave was held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, jointly with DefExpo, on February 6, 2020. A joint statement – the “Lucknow Declaration” – was adopted at the end of the conclave as a final document.
In line with the “Lucknow Declaration” and in consultation with stakeholders, the IAAD has been institutionalized to be held once every two years on the sidelines of DefExpo.
IADD will explore new areas of convergence for mutual engagement, including in areas such as capacity building, training, cybersecurity, maritime security and counter-terrorism.
The Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis (MP-IDSA) is the knowledge partner of the India-Africa Defense Dialogue. (ANI)
