Find happiness on the dance floor (without a drink in hand)

posted on

Sweaty nightclubs, strict dance studios, or your kitchen at 2 a.m. aren’t the only places you can unleash your inner dancer. No lights no lycra (NLNL) is a place to bring back the joy of dancing and let your daggy moves glow in the dark.

Moving to a beat is one of our most human instincts, but as we get older, we stop taking our childhood dance lessons and our self-awareness kicks in, the only time many ‘among us tend to get into the groove is with a drink in hand in a crowded nightclub.

Signal No lights no lycra (NLNL), founded in 2009 by two Melbourne dancers who wanted to bring the joy of movement back into the community. This understated event takes place in pitch-black venues with music you can’t help but lose.

“One minute you strength be dancing at The Beatles, and then more on our reading list, is some rock and ‘the firecrackers of the 80s, and then you strength to listen Something it’s on the running music graphics. This is enough a wide range and us As at to mix together this up.” NLNL Ambassador, Renae said.

You won’t even have to cross the bridge to sweat – Canberra hosts three NLNL events throughout the week which are spread across the city.

From Flynn to Weston and with the city in the middle, the saying that nothing is more than a 20 minute drive away in Canberra has never been truer.

From those who had a rough day to those who want to keep having a good time, the dance floor is open to everyone. It’s the perfect solo activity where you can gather friends and hit the dance floor together.

“Come discover your happy place on our dance floor because I feel As finding something you enjoy doing can be good for you and help you meet the challenges of the week, and that’s so important. I hope your happy place can be on the dance floor with NLNL. said Renee.

If the thought of setting foot in a gym makes you shudder (and with our current lack of dry days making outdoor activities difficult), this could be the answer to your exercise prayers.

“We crank the music right standing, dancing a way the the week and obtain some exercise at the same time as Do Something fun. It is also a mental wind-down for me. I to find this it is a mental health activity as good as a physical health activity, this combined those of them things in a way this I personally enjoy.said Renee.

From robot to shopping cart, it’s your chance to dance like no one is watching and relax into the ridiculous but delicious dance usually reserved for dads on a wedding dance floor.

“We Actually have a bit of one soft, tender place for dagger moves because this means often this you are really relaxed and to profit from yourself.” Renee said.

Embrace the joy of dancing like no one is watching and head to No Lights No Lycra for a night of fun without worrying about waking up with anxiety.
