Carlisle City Council will host the first meeting of the new expert panel at the scene

The new CITY council square committee is scheduled to meet for the first time on Thursday.

An update will be provided to councilors on the work surrounding Carlisle City Council’s 2021-2026 Homelessness and Sleep Rough Strategy.

The report prepared by the officers will inform councilors of the work to achieve the objectives of the city council’s strategy, which include “prioritizing early intervention and prevention of homelessness” as well as “improving experiences and opportunities for homeless youth and children”.

The Place Panel will also receive an update on Riverside’s work to support Carlisle tenants and communities.

Riverside officers will attend the meeting to brief councilors on their work in the town, including investment and regeneration activities.

Councilors will see the latest housing allocation policy from Cumbria Choice.

The head of homeless services at the town hall will present the report.

Cumbria Choice Partnership is made up of local county authorities, the Home Group and housing associations.

Carlisle City Council’s Head of Policy and Communications will present councilors with a performance report for the end of the 2021/22 financial year.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in the Flensburg Room of the Carlisle Civic Center at 4 p.m. Thursday.
