The duo’s hot dance routine to the chart-topping Bollywood tune has over a million views and counting, demonstrating Chauhan’s undying appeal. However, when we tell her, she admits she hasn’t seen it and promises to check out the viral performance as soon as the couple post it on their social media sites.
“I’m extremely thrilled if this had such a tremendous response,” she told khaleejtimes.com in a recent Zoom chat. “It just adds years and years to my work.” Thanks for letting me know!”
The modern music industry has been accused of sacrificing melody on the altar of viral singles which rarely persist beyond the current club season, both globally and in India.
Sunidhi’s voice, on the other hand, has a timeless appeal that has kept many of her old hit songs fresh. There’s a Sunidhi Chauhan song for every big occasion in life these days, whether it’s Dhoom’s raunchy Crazy Kiya Re, bouncy Dilliwaali Girlfriend, lyrical Chor Bazaari (Love Aaj Kal) or humorous Kaisi Paheli Zindagi (Parineeti) or the sentimental Ishq Sufiyana.
Sunidhi’s Beintehaa performance in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena on Friday August 27 marks her return to the stage after nearly a year. In February 2020, she gave her last live performance.
“I’ve never done a concert before” (after that). I am delighted to be able to accomplish this in Dubai. It’s my favorite place and I love performing in front of the Dubai crowd. They’re smart, they’re ecstatic, they love all types of music and enjoy it to the fullest. I am delighted to play in front of them!
“I make sure they’re interested in what I’m saying. I make sure they’re entertained, so it’s the interaction that makes everything seem so good.
She goes on to say that she’s not upset if she notices someone in the crowd being offended. “They have every right to enjoy entertainment in their own way.” What she loves most about the Dubai crowd, she says, is that “they respond to the songs quite well.”
