Calogianes earns sixth place at SJNY Invitational

KINGS PARK, NY- The Farmingdale State men’s and women’s cross country teams placed eighth and 13th respectively at the St. Joseph’s-Long Island Invitational on Saturday.

St. Thomas d’Aquin won the men’s 8k, while Felician took the women’s 5k victory.

FSC senior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, NY) led the way after clocking a time of 28:26.91 and placing sixth out of 177 runners.

Senior Connor McKeever (West Babylon, NY) posted a time of 30:21.61 and finished 29th.

Sophomore Jonathan Engelhardt (Kings Park, NY) finished the 8k in 31:22.06 and placed 43rd overall, while sophomore Patrick Vierling (Deer Park, NY) (32:57.03) completed an average mile of 6:38 and placed 60th overall.

In the women’s 5k, sophomore Gianna Scibelli (North Babylon, NY) placed 55th (out of 145) with a time of 26:31.23.

Junior Jillian Kosky (Merrick, NY) finished the race in 28:04.63 and recorded 70th place.

Freshman Loamy Maldonado (Brentwood, NY) came in 79th in 29:10.06

Farmingdale State will next compete in the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, October 23 at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, NY. The women’s 6k will start at 11 a.m. and the men’s 8k will follow at noon.
