The Baltimore Ravens have amassed a lot of depth on their roster in the 2022 offseason. While it’s a good deal to have what’s considered “too much” depth, it does mean potentially moving on from talented players who could having to be fired for nothing else.
When unsubscribing a player every NFL team should put on the trade block, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay picked Ben Powers for Baltimore. Kay explained how the Ravens have a “lockdown” at guard positions, with other players also making cases for roster spots and playing time.
“The Baltimore Ravens have a multi-position lockout right now. One of them is on guard duty, where several players compete to earn the two starting jobs during training camp…Ben Powers could be one of the odd men in a competition that will see Ben Cleveland, Kahlil McKenzie, Patrick Mekari, Tire Phillips and Kevin Zeitler battle to top the depth standings.
While Kevin Zeitler has the right guard position firmly in his possession, the left guard battle was one of the biggest in Baltimore’s training camp. Powers competes with players such as Tire Phillips, but if he ends up losing his job, he could be a trade candidate based on the Ravens’ other depth as well as the fact that he’s in the final year of his rookie contract.
