Babar Azam slips to 3rd place in the ICC T20 rankings

A new batter has risen to the top of the MRF Tires ICC Men’s T20Is rankings after his outstanding performance at the Asian Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has updated its rankings that Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has slipped to third in the ICC T20I batsman rankings. The right-handed batsman didn’t have a notable spell at the recently concluded 2022 Asian Cup as he only managed 68 runs in eight games.

After losing the top spot in the ICC T20 batting rankings, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam has dropped further to third place according to the latest ICC T20I rankings.

Mohammad Rizwan is the new No. 1 T20I hitter in the world, ousting Babar Azam atop the charts. Rizwan was in stunning form at the Asian Cup, topping the run standings with 192 runs in 3 games.

Pakistan’s Babar captain was replaced by fellow countryman Mohammad Rizwan and failed to maintain his form in the 2022 T20 Asian Cup.

In Asian competition, the star hitter has scored just 68 runs in six games.

South African Aiden Markram ousted Babar to take the next job. India’s Virat Kohli also received an expense allowance for his lecture.

Kohli marked his first century at the T20 International after three long years, scoring a magnificent 276 runs at the 2022 T20 Asia Cup.

Thanks to his efforts, he climbed a total of 14 places in the T20I player rankings to about fifteenth place.

Bar Azam needs to score for Pakistan as he is considered the best batsman to get off to a good start by scoring in the early overs.

Heading into the ICC T20 World, Babar Azam needs to be in top form to lead runs and score if he wants to win the ICC T20 World Cup, to be held in Australia next month.
