Aberg propels Tech to third place in Frederica Cup

SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Powered by a final round 65 senior All-American Ludwig Abergthe No. 6 ranked Texas Tech Men’s Golf Program finished third at the Frederica Cup hosted by Vanderbilt University at Frederica Golf Club.

After his final round 65, Aberg finished at -17 overall for the tournament, good for third place in solo. The Swede shook off a bogey on the number one (the only one of his innings) to record five birdies on the front nine and three in a row on the back nine.

As a team, the Red Raiders put up strong performances in the lineup, as Tech’s top three players combined to shoot -41 as a trio.

After shooting an opening round 63 to rush to the 18-hole lead, the second Calum Scott recorded a final run 72 to finish at -14 for the event.

Transfer to South Carolina Jack Wall also finished with three rounds of golf under par, as the senior shot a 71 on Thursday to finish at -10 overall.

Memphis transfer Tyrant Snyders was the last Red Raider to finish under par for the week, as the South African shot a final round 70 to finish at -4 overall.

Propelled by a strong performance in the second and third rounds, Vanderbilt won the tag team title at -69 overall, while senior William Moll won the tag team title.

The University of Oklahoma finished at -66 overall finishing second, followed by Tech (-46), Georgia (-44), and Mississippi State (-36).

Ohio State shot a team score of -14 Thursday to finish fifth, followed by Arkansas (-18) and TCU (+9).

The Red Raiders return to action at the end of September for the Inverness Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Toledo. The two-day event begins with 36 holes on September 26 before wrapping up on September 27.
