After the amicable departure of Jeff Nichols from the untitled yet A quiet place spin-off, Paramount Pictures has found its replacement as director Michel Sarnoski, according to Deadline. Sarnoski is a promising and promising director whose talents have been in great demand following the release of his thriller. Pork in 2021 with Nicolas cage.
Very little is known about the spin-off at this time, other than the fact that it’s a spin-off, rather than following the Abbott family as they continue to try to survive in a third installment. The film is based on an idea from the creator of the franchise John krasinski, who wrote and directed the first two films and starred in them alongside his wife, Emily blunt.
Apparently, Krasinski was blown away by Sarnoski’s work on Pork, and he was initially on the shortlist for the Quiet place spin off. Nichols parted ways with the project on good terms last year, seeking to work on an unnamed sci-fi project for Paramount. Nichols had also developed the script for the spin-off, but it is not yet known whether it will be used under Sarnoski, or if his writing will be replaced as well.
A quiet place II was one of the first films to hit theaters in 2021 after the closures for the pandemic. The film performed well, grossing $ 297 million worldwide. The film skillfully used flashbacks to reveal deeper connections before the alien invasion that brought about the doomsday world, while also opening up the universe beyond the Abbott family home as they set out in search of ‘a new refuge. The film stars Blunt, Krasinski, Simmons activist, Noah Skirt, Cillian murphy, and Djimon hounsou. Simmons and Jupe steal the show in both films, showing an abundance of talent at a young age standing among the big names in the series. While it’s unlikely that any of the cast will return for the spin-off, that’s not out of the question.
Sarnoski’s work on Pork earned him a nomination as someone to watch at the Independent Spirit Awards. Even with so few disclosures about the project so far, the talent of the creative team gives us hope for the next glimpse into Krasinski’s suspenseful universe. There is currently no release date set for the A quiet place spin off.
