From cafes to cafes, Anne Arundel County has no shortage of workplaces for remote employees and digital nomads.
Our team at Liquified Creative takes a hybrid approach to working remotely, and we believe there are plenty of opportunities when it comes to experiencing all that our community has to offer. That’s why, during our work-from-home days, we explored a variety of remote work locations across the county. Check out our list of 15 of our favorite spots below.
get up coffee
Rise Up Coffee is a local cafe known for its small batch coffee and friendly staff. Due to their laid-back environment, it’s the perfect place to have a drink and work. The best part… there is a some pitches around Anne Arundel County (and even on the east coast)!
Bitty & Beau’s
Bitty & Beau’s strives to be different from any other cafe. This roastery is more than just a place to have a cup of coffee – it’s an experience. The stores are run by people with disabilities, and you won’t find this welcoming, charming and remarkable atmosphere anywhere else. If you’re looking for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up, you’re sure to find it at Bitty & Beau’s!
Located at 33 1/2 West Street, between Stan and Joe’s Saloon and Rams Head Tavern, Cafe Ole serves delicious coffee and food from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. This welcoming local spot is a popular haunt for regulars and visitors alike for a delicious coffee, soda, snack, and even lunch!
Old fox books and coffee
A quaint and dreamy cafe and bookstore located on Maryland Avenue, Old Fox offers an eclectic and imaginative space to sit and work. It’s an especially great place for book lovers to browse and buy in-between projects. Open during normal business hours, visitors can enjoy their full-service cafe, spacious seating areas, outdoor patio, and garden.
Cooking bread and butter
bread and butter is one of our favorite places here at Liquified. Just steps from our office in Eastport, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee – hot or iced – and a delicious breakfast or lunch! With indoor and outdoor seating options available until 3:00 p.m. on weekdays, you’re sure to find a spot you love. Plus, you can’t beat that view of the water!
Anne Arundel County Public Library –Annapolis
With tons of locations across the county to choose from, AACPL has it all. However, we can’t say we’re not biased when it comes to West Street’s location. Newly renovated in 2020, the Annapolis Michael E. Busch Library offers an incredible 32,400 square foot brand new building with exciting features such as a vending cafe, Makerspace, tech zone and teen zone, expanded kids zone and outdoor play area, six collaboration spaces , two meeting rooms, etc. Wireless).
Open at 4:00 p.m. most weekdays and noon on Fridays, our friends at Naptown Scoop showed us that Forward Brewing is one of the best places in town for an afternoon business meeting. This nano-brewery and restaurant is sure to inspire conversation as this gathering place offers a true Eastport experience. Whether you take advantage of their indoor or outdoor seating options, you’re sure to find that neighborhood charm that only Forward can provide.
Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks
With the ability to book a park pavilion, Leisure and Parks Anne Arundel offers great opportunities to change work environment. It’s a great way to get outside while having the perfect outdoor setup to finish your office work. If you have little ones to take care of, this is another great option, as AAC Recreation and Parks has quite a Child Care Division to give to parents!
The big bean
The big bean is a great place to go if you’re looking for more than just coffee. With a wide variety of smoothies, you’re sure to find something at this cafe to suit your cravings. And The Big Bean even offers a variety of superfood lattes if a smoothie isn’t exactly what you want. Made with matcha, beetroot, ginger, coconut milk, cayenne pepper and dandelion root, among other ingredients, The Big Bean is sure to have something to help boost your digestion, your immunity and your productivity at work!
How about a delicious assortment of treats at your disposal while you work? Curé Café + Bakery is the place to go if you have a sweet tooth. With their in-house pastry chef Stephanie Squires and coffee curator Joel Bunker, you’ll enjoy a Curate-specific coffee and baking experience. Open Monday to Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., it’s a great place to work during the day. And, if you value your time here while you work, they even have a wine bar that opens at 5 p.m. on Fridays (and stays open until 9:30 a.m.)!
Baltimore coffee and tea
Every morning, Baltimore coffee and tea brews six different types of coffee. So if you’re not sure what type of coffee you want, this is the place to go! This cafe is in the Downtown Annapolis but also offers locations in Odenton, Frederick, Timonium and Hanover. Baltimore Coffee and Tea certainly won’t disappoint, selling 120 types of coffee, an endless variety of teas and serving breakfast and lunch!
Bean Rush Cafe
Open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; this is a great cafe if you’re looking to start a job early. Bean Rush Coffee serves a variety of caffeinated beverages, as well as coffee alternatives. If you’re not a big coffee drinker, you can find options like matcha, chai, turmeric, and ruby cocoa lattes (to name a few) to choose from at the cafe. There is also a long list of teas offered if you prefer. Plenty of seating, great dining options, and a quiet atmosphere make this a great place to relax and concentrate. There’s even a location in Crownsville!
The red bean
Located on Main Street in downtown Annapolis, The red bean is a unique and inviting space that offers both artisanal coffee drinks and ice cream! A great hangout with good food and good company, this café offers a variety of options from macchiatos and lattes to mochas and americanos. In addition to their great selection of coffees, their drinks are all made in partnership with other local cafes. The Red Bean works with Open Seas Coffee Roasters, South Mountain Creamery, Naval Bagels, Bread and Butter Kitchen and Hawthorne Fine Breakfast Pastry to provide the best products. Not to mention that their ice cream is divine!
Starbucks – Downtown Annapolis
So, we know everyone knows Starbucks, but we’re obsessed with the beautiful interior of the Main Street location right in downtown Annapolis. Plenty of seating, a bright open space, comfortable and cool decor, and reliable Wi-Fi – what more could you ask for? Plus, when you’re ready for a lunch break, just walk out the door and you’re steps away from some of Annapolis’ best restaurants and breathtaking water views!
Second Alarm Brewery
An award-winning cafe in Pasadena dedicated to volunteer firefighter outreach and recruitment, Second Alarm Brewery is a brick and mortar idea that is the first of its kind. Coffee Shop by day and an exclusive one-of-a-kind pub by night. Focusing on Maryland breweries and wineries, they have something for everyone. They offer a wide selection of quality coffees and a comfortable place to relax. Free high-speed Wi-Fi and a rotation of delicious food trucks give you a unique remote work experience every time!
